Snoqualmie Whole Home Renovation
This charming Snoqualmie Ridge home, built in 2003, wasn’t quite a fixer upper, but it was definitely ready for some TLC. It was the perfect opportunity to help our clients transform this house into their family’s forever home: a cozy retreat sans the 37 shades of builder basic beige!
- Wall demolition to create open concept living/dining/kitchen areas
- Large format, weathered wood-look tile installation to create textured movement across entire first floor
- Office conversion to guest suite with pocket door access to updated powder room with added shower
- Carpet installation on curved staircase and all bedrooms on the second floor
- Complete update in the kid’s bath with added second sink
- Complete update in the master bath with a modified layout, gorgeous herringbone tiled floors, glass shower and indulgent air bubble tub
- Exterior paint application to coordinate with calm, refreshing color palette of the new interior surfaces
So much more than a whole house remodel, this project helped to realize our client’s forever home dream. Ultimately, we were pleased to provide an elevation of function and design in this UNIQuely upgraded renovation.
“After a long military career with too many addresses, we were excited, yet terrified to take on a huge remodeling project for our final move. Victor had the experience and the resources to meet all of our renovation needs. His team tackled each task with meticulous attention to detail. Moreover, everyone who worked on our home impressed us with their respectful nature, their professionalism and their genuinely kind personalities. I have impeccably high standards and simply cannot believe what a positive experience this huge undertaking has been. We are so grateful to have found someone so trustworthy, hard working and full of integrity!” – Cindy M.
Demolition commenced, touching every surface, including several walls. Upstairs, the master bath vanity cabinets were in relatively good shape, so with a professional, fresh coat of lacquered paint, they looked as good as new. We installed a matching linen cabinet atop new quartz countertops and replaced all fixtures and surfaces with beautiful, sophisticated materials. Glass mosaic and herringbone patterned tiles create movement with a luxurious air bubble spa tub dominating the space. A custom stained sliding barn door invites entry from the master bedroom. Next door in the kid’s bath, we removed everything back to the studs. The upgraded vanity added a second sink with a quartz counter underneath two individual mirrors. Light, modern tiles and a custom skylight treatment combined to create a refreshingly bright and highly functional space.
Elsewhere on the second level, we updated all rooms and the curved staircase with a thickly padded, silvered greige carpet. The handrail also received a new, custom lacquered stain. All light fixtures were replaced with updated selections provided by our clients.
Downstairs, the laundry room received all new cabinetry, appliances and a utility sink with quartz counters that make folding a breeze. The front office transformed into a guest suite with a pocket door opening to the newly updated powder room. New framing and construction reconfigured the old closet into a glass enclosed shower. We then built a new closet in the room and replaced entrance doors for added privacy. Vaulted ceilings add volume to this hygge new guest suite, perfect for multitasking when finished as an office with a Euro lounger.
The star of this show would turn out to be the kitchen. The original space presented with awkward angles, closed in pony walls and subpar storage in sixteen shades of beige. The new kitchen had to provide optimal storage and functionality with an open flow to the living areas and patio.
The UNIQ team demolished two pony walls and relocated a gas line to move the cooktop and ventilation from the center island to the perimeter. Newly created space allowed our clients to enjoy a beautiful custom island with an expansive workspace and unobstructed sight lines into the adjacent living areas. Maintenance-free quartz countertops and all new cabinetry added practical beauty with upgraded features. Adding functionality was high on the priority list with an integrated recycle center, spice rack drawer organizers, and an appliance garage to conceal the microwave and small countertop appliances. Lovely, marble patterned porcelain tiles surround upper cabinetry extending to the ceiling for bonus storage. Although our clients loved the idea of beautiful wood flooring, it simply wasn’t a good option. Busy kids and pets required a durable solution to withstand the rigorous demands of daily wear and tear. Away went the badly worn carpet and dated, narrow-planked honey oak floors. Fantastic, large format porcelain tile mimics the texture of weathered wood with minimized grout lines to form cohesive flow throughout the entire first floor. Repeated variations of light fixtures from the same collection add harmony across the lower level. An all new suite of stainless steel appliances adorn the completed space. Ultimately, we were so pleased to provide an elevation in function and design with this UNIQuely upgraded kitchen.
Low budget plumbing connections revealed evidence of leaks at nearly all of the connection points. High quality materials replaced the old connections, designed to protect our client’s new investment. The end was in sight when temporary living arrangements changed, and the family needed to move into the house prior to completion of their project. We worked overtime to make sure one bathroom and the front guest suite were livable. While living under these conditions wasn’t ideal, we were able to finish the kitchen shortly thereafter and complete the remainder of the project without delay.
Several additional window panes had to be replaced on top of the original homeowner’s inspection report, and we addressed additional plumbing needs. The clients added several extra lighting installations and carpentry work to achieve their desired customizations.
As work progressed in the house, tough decisions were made. In the end, our clients opted to delay the patio cover and to paint the entire upstairs themselves to allow for upgrades in plumbing and countertops. Subsequently, they added painting services for the first floor, and we think all those hard choices resulted in a beautifully finished project.
